Um uns die Welt

Eastern European Migrant Workers in Germany

Serious cases of labor exploitation have long been known to the public. Migrant workers from eastern EU countries are particularly affected. In the film, three of them tell us their story: A Bulgarian construction worker who lives on the streets of Frankfurt and spends every day collecting bottles. A Romanian woman who lives in a hotel room with her two daughters and spends every day looking for a new job. And a Bulgarian pensioner who earns his money as a truck driver to provide for his family. He has been living in his truck for four months. The everyday life of the three is characterized by monotony and social isolation. And yet, what remains is the hope of a secure life.
