“Hope – that’s what we all need more than anything else right now. And hopeful is a project that Eric Gauthier is currently getting off the ground at record speed. The initial spark was provided by a moment during a company meeting earlier this year, with decidedly bad news: Gauthier Dance’s extensive touring schedule in February and March fell victim to the extended lockdown. Gauthier saw the increasing despondency in his dancers’ eyes and realized he had to do something about it. His “dying swans” needed a new artistic challenge. The Dying Swans Project was born! But it was to get even better. A few days later, Gauthier, himself a member of the “be a mover” community, was invited to talk with Jörg Howe, Head of Global Communications Daimler AG. When he told him about his dream, Howe spontaneously offered him support. And now the swans could take off!
The Daimler initiative “be a mover” is part of the Group’s global corporate citizenship commitment. With this strong tailwind, Gauthier was able to think bigger. He wanted to benefit not only the company, but also as many creative artists as possible – in purely mathematical terms, 64 artists from the fields of dance, choreography, music and film. Gauthier needed only one week to win them over for his project: The Dying Swans Project electrified famous international choreographers as well as representatives of the Stuttgart independent scene.
The finished project consists of 16 solos for each company member of Gauthier Dance, and is available on the social media channels of Theaterhaus Stuttgart and Gauthier Dance.”
